Following two teaser videos, Hennessey has released the first production images of its radical Venom GT. Based on a heavily modified Lotus platform, the Venom GT promises to be one of the highest performing machines in the world.

Hennessey will offer the Venom GT with three engine options. The base Venom GT will use a version of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s 6.2L LS9 supercharged V8, tuned by HPE to generate 725 horsepower. For those needing even more power, Hennessey will offer two twin-turbo V8 engine options, developing 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 horsepower. Regardless of the powertrain chosen, power is sent to the Venom GT’s rear-wheels via a Ricardo six-speed transmission.

Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber, Hennessey says the Venom GT tips the scales at less 2,400 pounds. Couple that svelte curb weight with 1,200 horsepower and the Venom GT promises to be one of the top performance machines on the market.

In order to ensure that power doesn’t get out of hand, Hennessey equipped the Venom GT with an active aero kit, allowing for the rear wing to adjust to the ideal angle based on a number of conditions. The Venom GT also comes packing a programmable traction control system and an adjustable suspension.

Although no official numbers have been given, we’ve heard the Venom GT will be able to make the sprint to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds and hit top speed of 272 mph.

Hennessey plans to make just 10 examples of the Venom GT per year, with pricing expected to match that exclusivity. Look for the 725 horsepower version of the Venom GT to list from about $600,000, with turbo variants carrying a hefty premium.
