Our thanks go out to WCF reader “Nic” who sent us a brochure for the upcoming M Sports Package upgrade set for release on the 2011 BMW 5-Series Touring. The brochure was given to our fearless reader after his purchase of a BMW X6 M.
Inside, the car has an M-badged multifunction steering wheel, aluminum pedals, anthracite headliner, M-emblazoned leather interior, and an aluminum trim with a hexagonal pattern. The package uses 19-inch lightweight wheels, though 18-inchers can be purchased instead.
Outside, the car wears a host of color-matched equipment, including the new front bumper with large air intakes, and side skirts that have also been given the M treatment. A redesigned rear bumper with diffuser is fitted at the back, though the chrome-tipped dual tailpipes tell anyone and everyone this is not actually a M5.
Not wanting the Touring car? Look for similar features on the 5er Sedan. The 2011 BMW 5-Series Touring with the M Sports Package should hit the market this fall with seven extra exterior colors. The wagon has a 560-liter (19.8-cubic foot) cargo area, 12 percent more than before.
