BMW has handed out a memo to its North American dealers outlining changes for the upcoming model year which begins in September.

New for the M3 model is the addition of automatic start/stop technology as a standard feature. Stop/start works by shutting off the engine once the vehicle has come to a complete stop to save fuel. The function is automatic but can be turned off via a button located next to the ignition/off switch on the dashboard.

Another option added to the M3′s list of standard features is the M Drive button on the steering wheel, which saves a driver’s preferences for functions such as stability control and shift-modes.

New functionality has also been added to BMW’s ConnectedDrive, including Mobile Office, from which hand-held devices can be connected via BlueTooth and offer e-mail and texting, as well as other functions, through the BMW dashboard. New technologies also include an enhanced iPod/USB Adapter.

Also new is the return of the M Sport Package for the recently released 5-Series.
