Audi designed their fourth-generation flagship sedan named 2011 Audi A8 L. It’s bigger, more luxurious, and more expensive than the regular A8. It’s a new high-tech flagship of the brand. These also impresses with a presence of powerful confidence – it is a large, distinguished luxury sedan.


Power comes from a 6.3 FSI W12 making 500-hp and a maximum torque of 461 lb-ft. That allows it’s to go from 0-62 mph in 4.9 with a top speed governed at 155 mph. While the Audi A8 being launched with a W12 engine, by the end of the year will be available with all the engines currently offered for the regular A8.

The A8 L will also features torque vectoring and distributes drive individually between each axle and between the rear wheels for improved traction and stability. It’s multimedia interface combines the standard navigation system with a touchpad. MMI touch enables the driver to control many functions intuitively such as inputting the navigation destination by writing the letters on the pad with the touch of a finger. The MMI system can recognize complex scenarios and make anticipatory decisions to assist the driver. The new technologies include a night vision assist with marking of detected pedestrians, the Audi pre-sense safety system, as well as a speed limit display.

The all new 2011 Audi A8 L  can look back on a rich history in the luxury segment. Audi and Horch, which was later to become its sister brand and at the time was based in Zwickau, Saxony, were already building large cars with eight-cylinder engines in the late 1920s. One of these was the Audi Type R, also known as the Imperator. Its 4.9 liter inline eight-cylinder engine generated 74 kW (100 hp) and 275 Nm (202.83 lb-ft) of torque.
