Dodge Motors has released a special edition Challenger called 2011 Drag Pak, a race-ready drag car. It is one for the track – and a straight one at that. It will carry on the tradition of shutting down the competition at drag strips across the country.

New Challenger Drag Pak drops its 6.1-liter V8 engine in order to use the Viper’s 8.4-liter V10 powerplant, which is mated to a drag racing two-speed automatic transmission. The power is sent to the road via a solid rear axle and a set of special tires.

There are also features a special body modified for drag racing, complete fuel cell assembly, polycarbonate door windows, lightweight drag-race only front brake assembly and racing wheels. Three available optional packages that add things like an eight-point roll cage, six-point safety harness, a mesh window net, a Mopar body logo wrap and custom paint schemes. The Drag Pak will not be offered in the GCC. Other goodies include a drag strip solid rear axle, a fuel cell, rear-end collisions updated transmission, meter trim package and a two-speed automatic, ready to race.

Dodge fans should rejoice — because Chrysler’s automobile parts and service division, Mopar, offers the Challenger V-10 Drag Pak for the new 2011 Dodge Challenger.
