It is an official announcement by Volkswagen that it is releasing its NMS (new midsize sedan), Pessat, in 2012 and only for the Americans. It will be built in Chattanooga in Tennessee, USA, though it will be designed in Germany. It has improved German technology and facilities for exceptional luxury and safety as Volkswagen plans to increase its market in the US!

The car is larger than the company’s previous models. It is 191.7 inches (48.68cm) in length and 72.2 inches (18.35cm) wide with wheel-base of 110.4 inches (28.03cm). This overall increase in size will be much welcomed in the US along with its four-door facility.

Its exterior displays a new face in front with the headlights and the grille flushed together as one unit. There are three side windows with extended glasses. The taillights are in two parts, in the trunk lid and rear fender.

The rich chrome throughout the interior adds elegance to the car with all switches and controls endowed with chrome! The seating area is larger with very comfortable seats. An outstanding feature for the driver’s seat is that it can be adjusted in eight different ways. There is Bluetooth connectivity available. The electronic stability system, the tire-pressure monitoring system, climate control system, anti-locking brake system and airbags provision add to greater safely of both the driver and the passengers. The Hill Climb Assist enables the car to climb difficult slopes.

Passat 2012 will be marketed as S, SE and SEL. It is empowered by five-cylinder, 170 horse powered engine which will run on gasoline, a V6 280 horse powered gas engine and 140 horse powered four-cylinder diesel. It is expected to give a range of 800 miles but reduced emissions.

The launching price for 2012 Passat is USD 20,000 arbitrarily but the final price is still to be announced.
