The American multinational car maker Ford is working hard towards its vehicle’s power and fuel efficiency and its latest fleet of vehicles are expected to receive the company’s new and more powerful Ecoboost engines.

Last week Ford has announced the launch of 2012 explorer SUV, and this week’s announcement about the Ford Edge is really a highlight of the company’s endeavor towards constant improvements of its servings. The 2012 Explorer SUV is announced to be Ford’s first model in America to be available with the brand new 2L , 4 cylinder Ecoboost engine. What came as a major attraction in the Ford Explorer release is the EPA fuel economy figures which is rated as high as 20mpg (11.8lt/100km) in the city and a even higher 28mpg (8.4lt/100km) on the highways. A cheaper version i.e. the Explorer V6 is also announced to be available for release which delivers at a power of 292 HP having a 3.5lt engine that returns 17mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highways. In this impressive release announcement Ford has also drawn a comparison with its rival’s offerings and claimed it’s supremacy over others on many areas like fuel efficiency and enhanced power of the engine.

With its latest announcement for release of Ford Edge, the company has taken one step further towards providing powerful automobiles with enhanced efficiency. The Ford 2012 Edge is revealed to be capable of delivering EPA certified 21mpg in the city and a whopping 30 mpg on the highways, leaving the specifications of the Explorer way behind. The Edge boasts of a powerful four cylinder Ecoboost engine like its predecessor which is capable of delivering 240 HP at 5500 rpm speed. The engine can produce a strong 2700 lb-ft torque at 3000 rpm. It has got an efficient 6- speed automatic transmission for driving the power to the wheels.
