The Nissan Maxima had debuted way back in July 1976, and had been known as the ‘four door sports car’. Time has flown since then, and now the 2012 Nissan Maxima sedan has merely received a modest makeover. This is a part of Nissan’s do over for most of its products.

All the hype about the car getting a new look has only brought to our notice the addition of two exterior colors named: Java Metallic and Dark Slate.

The outside of the car has got a new pair of designed rear lights, a changed front grille design, and also sees the addition of 18 inch and 19 inch aluminum alloy wheels.

The interiors have barely been touched for this car. But there has been a meter cluster illumination of white that has been added. Another addition to the car is the audio segment display and also the new audio/HVAC knob design.

Also newly brought to the car and to our notice is the Dark Piano-hairline trim, Atlantic cherry wood tone trim, and metallic finish trim. The interior is offered in a Café Latte color.

No changes have been made to the Nissan Maxima’s original 290 horsepower, 6.5L V6 engine. This had drawn its inspiration from the Xtronic CVT transmission.

Prices for the new trim technologies did not change even with the makeover for the cars. The S and SV (the two trim levels) are offered at $31,750 and $34,450 respectively.

However, a new package was offered for the S model, with the payment of an additional $750. This package includes xenon headlights, rear view mirrors with compass, 18 inch aluminum alloy wheels that have Dark Hyper Silver finish, fog lights, outside mirrors, dark satin chrome front grille, outside mirrors that have integrated turn signals and metallic trim. This also includes a smoked High Intensity Discharge (HID).
