2012 Mitsubishi President Confirms Next Lancer Evo 1 2012 MODEL LANCER EVO FROM MITSUBISHI

If all the predictions about the world coming to an end prove to be true, we would never see the Lancer Evolution from the house of Mitusbishi, the hybrid-diesel all set to come out in 2015, for the world might end in December 2012.

We have come to hear about the hybrid car not from any grapevines running amock in the internet, but from the horse’s mouth itself – the president of Mitsubishi, Osamu Masuko. So yes, we have absolutely valid reasons to not doubt about the credibility of this part of the story.

He has apparently gone on record to tell the British magazine, Autocar, that this next generation from the house of Mitsubishi – the Lancer Evo is going to forgo the old 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder unit, that had become one of the main features of the ten previous versions of the hybrid power train.

Well, we were not very surprised with that piece of news. After all, an electric motor would more or less going to be added, in order to regulate the emissions. What has shocked us was the news revealed by the magazine, which says that there is a good chance that this is most likely going to be a diesel-electric hybrid.

Okay. Really? A diesel powered Evo XI??? Yes, even we cannot believe it…but do read on…

Masuka said that the specific targets and the pretty tight timeline had been set. To quote him, “I have set the goal of developing a sporting car featuring electric power. We will start work on the project next year, and it will be ready within three.”

Mitubishi is forced to comply with the rules, that require them to introduce a radical power train switch, so that they can bring down the CO2 emissions to less than 200 g/km, and at the same time maintain their sub-five seconds 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration.

We are pleased to tell you that the 11th version of the supercar is going to be a bit of a thrill, and not follow the saint-like eco-friendly versions of other cars, that make it a little less of challenge. Here’s hoping we get to see the car in 2015, till then keep watching this space for more updates!
