It was at first the brochure shots and at present it is the Armageddon official photos of the 2013 Mercedes Benz SL that have entered the internet before the scheduled world premier of the model in the Detroit auto Show to be held in January next year. When it comes to the styling language, modelled after the smaller SLK what we know about the new model is that it is the first mainstream model featuring an exclusively aluminium construction which makes it 140 kg lighter than the one that it replaces. The new model keeps the folding top of the present model with Mercedes Benz’s Magic Sky Control roof along with a glass structure that is available as an option.

While many details on the technologies and chassis design of the new model is released, the German company keeps quiet on engine range that will be available. However, it is expected that the SL will launch with the new 3.5 L V6 and 4.6 L turbocharged V8 engine. The images in the net suggest that the new roadster will retain the SL silhouette while other styling features like boxy nose will be adopted from other models. It will be much lighter than the present model despite being large in all dimensions. The SL will be featured by a new generation engines featuring auto start stop system along with directly injected option. The line up will contain twin turbo 4.7 L V8 giving 435 HP and V6 and V12 units.

Moving towards the interior, it will follow the direction of the Mercedes with highlights which includes the vent that is bounded by chrome rings and a screen at the center console. In addition to it, this model will introduce two new features, one the ‘magic vision control’ and the other a new audio system which make use of the space in the aluminium footwell to deliver more bass.
