According to Phillip Zak, GM director of exterior design they have injected a strong presence to the exterior of the model, while emphasising on the details. These small but vital changes give it a more energetic personality which reflects more closely the lifestyles of the families who depend upon the Traverse for their busy lives. While at the back, the license plate pocket and redesigned lamps are placed in the new liftgate for a sporty look.

Family gathering space

Space is the hallmark of the interior of this model. Associated with spaciousness, comfortable seats for eight adults and cargo carrying capacity, the new model is build on these attributes by providing an interior environment with refined and new features. The upgraded features include soft touch surface on the front door uppers and instrument panels, contrasting stitching, silver and chrome accents and blue ambient lighting. The seats at the front features articulating head restraints and can be adjusted for more comfort. Adding to the feel of quality, the fit and finish of the interior has been improved in all the models. The new model will be available in three interior colours, in cloth or leather which include Mojave and Ebony, light and dark Titanium and Ebony.

The parent test

The Chevrolet Traverse has passed the parent test with three rows of seats in all the models, class leading people and the capacity to carry cargo, family friendly entertainment and others. The second row comes with a pair of chairs for the captain or bench for three passengers. The SmartSlide feature enables unobstructed access to the bench seat at the third row and is easy for children to access. The third row can accommodate three passengers.

Efficient power

It is featured with a long wheelbase of 118.9 inch, front track of 67.8 inch width and 67.4 inch back track, a combination of which enables stable and smooth ride. Efficiency in this model comes from an advanced 3.6l V6 with fuel saving technology and continuous variable valve timing. It has automatic transmission of six speed with improved shift speed which results in confident acceleration when required. The engine is SAE certified and delivers 288 hp and a torque of 270 lb-ft. its direct injection helps to produce power like many V8 engines. Handling and ride improvements are made by using rebound springs in the front struts which increases the roll control. The all wheel drive system provides increased traction on the slippery roads by managing the distribution of torque between the front and back axles.

This vehicle is among the safest of all vehicles on road, which has earlier earned honours and recognition from third party organisations and in government crash testing. For the next generation model, it improves the reputation of safety with the use of first front centre air bag.
