The Lotus Evora 414 Hybrid of 2012 incorporates many new developments of Lotus. It features the newest technology in long range electric propulsion and also makes use of the innovations in electronics to assist the driver and has a brand new design of the interior along with a new roof system. The drivetrain system has achieved development in house by Lotus Engineering. Both the engines have been producing 207 hp and torque of 295lb-ft to each of the wheels which means that the new car can produce different levels of torque to each of the wheels and can lead to higher stability without any sacrificing response. A part of the design is to make a transition from the internal combustion engines to the hybrids as flawless as possible. The car is equipped with a replicated paddle shift which allows for lightning quick changes in the gear and helps to make the car feel like a standard sports car. When the paddle shift mounted on the steering column is used to alter gears, the sound of the engine also changes and adaptable torque is used to make the feeling of a gearshift jolt.

The 2012 Evora 414E Hybrid is much a Lotus but with a different colour scheme. The interior design has come up with a theme of copper for both interior and exterior. The theme which are inspired by the colours are associated with electrical wiring is used from stripes in the seats to inserts on the panels of the instrument. The battery can be charged from standard mains socket and it can travel up to 35 miles on the power of the battery. The system also permits braking by allowing the driver to downshift which is rare in hybrid cars. The driver can dictate the characteristics of braking as in normal cars.
