Subaru of America, Inc has introduced the Outback models of 2013 which is powered by a more competent powertrain and revised styling and debuting the EyeSight driver assist system. Improvements made in the chassis help in developing both the ride quality and quickness in the model which also presents new amenities. This new model features a front end which is restyled with grille, new headlights, fog lights and front bumper for a powerful look. It continues with ground clearance of 8.7 inch which is higher than some SUVs and crossovers. The 2013 Subaru Outback 2.5i models introduce a double overhead cam of 2.5 liter FB series Boxer engine for an increase in fuel efficiency and performance. This new engine delivers an output of 173 hp and a torque of 174 lb-ft. The engine produces greater low end torque across broad speed range which makes the model responsive in driving.

The Outback 2.5i and 2.5i Premium models give a choice between a manual transmission of 6 speed and the Lineartronic CVT of second generation which is standard on the 2.5i models. The official figures for fuel economy are not yet out but it is projected that the 2013 model will receive a 5 star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Various improvements in the body framework, steering and suspension give the new model a smooth and quiet ride while helping to increase handling agility. Stiffness at major points of the structure which include front strut mounts and back frame rails help in minimising the transmission of vibration and contributing to responsive handling.
