Mercedes Benz has announced the all new Citan commercial panel van. Basically a re-badged Renault Kangoo which is due to the alliance between Renault Nissan and Daimler, it is for the first time that the Citan discloses the appearance of the Mercedes Benz van family. What is highly displayed is the chrome emblem of Mercedes on a new grille along with three perforated louvers to give it a sporty look. There is also a headlamp design which is accented by the hood of V shape and the bumper at the front includes the trapezoidal air intake shape which is already seen in the recent compact Mercedes Benz cars to the Actros.

The Citan will be offered in three lengths viz long, compact and extra long. Three variants like a crewbus, a panel van and a vehicle for mixed use will also be offered. The priority for the commercial vehicle is safety which includes Adaptive Electronic Stability Program as standard which at the same time incorporates anti locking braking system, vehicle dynamic control that understeers and counters over, ASR known as Acceleration Skid Control and Traction Control System for drive and braking torque control. A blueEFFICIENCY package is offered as standard for the petrol engine so as to reduce consumption of fuel and includes start/stop function, tires of low rolling resistance and generator and battery management. This new model is supposed to make its debut at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show to be held in Hanover this September. Other details in this regard are limited but it is assumed that we will get to know more on this very soon. More details will be revealed soon as the date of debut progresses but till then we have to be happy with whatever information we have received so far.
