The upgraded 2013 Ford Flex model launched at the L.A Auto Show will be available in the showrooms by the summer of 2013.

The makers have given the Flex a makeover in terms of appearance more than its structure. It will be available in three extra body colors apart from the six already offered in the previous release; the Ruby Red, Deep Impact and Kodiak Brown. The roof color can also be chosen with the options being the body color itself or a bi-color combination of black, white or grey. The 20 inch aluminum alloy wheels come in six different variations. All these and more are a part of its Appearance Package.

In the heart of the Ford Flex lies an upgraded 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 base engine with an amazing 285 hp and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. Ford’s patent EcoBoost technology prevails in the upgraded version.

The vehicle comes preloaded with SYNC and MyFord Touch applications. Sync is a voice enabled in-car connectivity system that can do a variety of useful tasks by interpreting voice instructions. It can search for directions, make phone calls via Bluetooth enabled cell phones and make emergency calls through 911Assist application; all without removing your hands from the steering wheel. MyFord Touch works with the latest version of SYNC and helps customizing the car’s functionalities. Both these features help the car driver keep focus on his driving only.

Collision warning and brake support systems are a part of the Flex’s safety features. These applications function under radar control and try to avert accidents by sensing the proximity of other vehicles towards the car. In case of an accident, the advanced restraint system helps protect the passengers from head and neck injuries. The inflatable seat belts activate within 40 milliseconds by sensing the collision and cover the torso of the passenger, thereby reducing the damage.
