The Ford Focus ST will now be available with a unique turbo overboost feature that can increase the power output and give an amazing driving experience.

Originally listed at 247 hp (184 kW / 250 PS) and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque from its turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the Focus ST now extends its torque curve from 3,000 rpm to 4,500 rpm for up to 15 seconds thanks to a new overboost feature – a first for an EcoBoost engine sold in North America.

It was initially going to have a 247 hp (184 kW / 250 PS) and 265lb-ft of torque from a powerful 2.o liter engine with their patent EcoBoost technology. Now the added turbo overboost feature can extend the torque curve up to 4500 rpm when you need that extra acceleration. This boost can last for a full 15 seconds; almost like the power boost effect in racing video games.

Says engineer Lisa Schoder, the marketing manager for Focus ST, that in order to maintain the safety standards and to increase the longevity of the car, they have limited the maximum turbo boost to 4500rpm.

The high-output power packed Ford Focus ST is scheduled to be available in the U.S this coming fall.
