The much awaited Hyundai Elantra GT made its debut at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. This car has been designed keeping the i30 model in mind and will hit the showrooms of Europe by the summer of 2012.

The body design is sleek and the material is sturdy. Usage of steel for the body has rendered this vehicle to be the lightest five door hatchback in its league. Projecting headlamps, fog lights and the standard 17 inch alloy wheels enhance the overall design of this car.

The car boasts of a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder Nu engine with 148 hp and 131 lb-ft of torque. Hyundai has always made an effort to save the environment from car emissions. It is for this reason that it offers two variations of the car; the PZEV (Partial Zero Emission Vehicles) and the ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) versions. Both these versions help to reduce emissions and lower the fuel usage by a certain percent. The car can perform a six-speed manual or automatic shift with the SHIFTRONIC manual control utility. This can further enhance the engine’s performance.

The interiors have been designed to include some minute but useful details. The navigation system is touch enabled and connected to the rearview camera which is hidden under the Hyundai ‘H’ symbol and comes out only when activated. This is one of the revolutionary features in this car. Some of the other functionalities include the Dual-zone climate control system that incorporates the Clean Air Ionizer and the Defogging system and the Hyundai Blue Link which is an advanced voice to text recognition system built into the car for easy navigation. Hyundai has also looked into the safety of the car occupants and introduced the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and ABS (anti-lock braking system) which will monitor the safety levels actively and seven airbags and a special knee airbag for the driver as a passive safety measure.
