2013 Mazda RX 7 FD Bid Farewell to 2013 Mazda RX 7 FD Rotary Engine

Mazda’s rotary engine is likely to face a production halt. Sources suggest that the rotary engine might cease to exist. Although the engine had many flaws, Mazda chose to stand apart from the crowd and continue patronizing it and it did so for a lot many years. However now, the rotary engine will now solely be available to car enthusiasts, collectors and the people who already own it. The third-generation Mazda RX-7 (FD) was one such popular model which was powered by their rotary engine.

The RX-7 (FD) had a 1.3-liter 13B-REW twin-turbocharger rotary engine which can deliver an output of 276bhp. Compact Conversion, a U.K based body shop that sent the specimen has unofficially declared that the car specimen sent to WCF can pull off up to 450bhp.

The model after going through the upgrades will feature Compact Conversion’s own GT body kit. The kit includes the bumpers (both rear and front), side skirts, new bonnet and rear spoilers. A re-spray and a lowered suspension will also be a part of the remodeling.

The RX-7 FD had been launched in 1992 and productions continued till 2002. It was a rage that time and was the first automobile to possess the sequential twin-turbocharger system.
