Most of the Apple enthusiasts should be familiar with the good old Siri. Siri is a voice recognition software that is programmed specially for iPhones and iPads. Apple made an announcement at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, that Siri will now be available in cars as well. It will be built-in inside the Audi, BMW, Chrysler, GM, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz and Toyota vehicles.

As mentioned earlier, Siri can recognize speech and perform speech to text conversions. Siri’s automobile version will be named ‘Eyes Free’. Eyes Free’ will help drivers keep their focus while driving and never having the need to remove their hands from the steering wheel. By giving voice commands they can turn on the music system, listen to text messages, dictate text messages, access calendars and time tables, set reminders, make phone calls, search destinations, get point to point navigation details and a host of other features. Siri needs to be activated though by pressing a tiny button on your steering wheel.

Eyes Free will be launched by the end of this year and it is expected to be integrated into new car models by summer next year.
