The ongoing Goodwood festival of Speed will witness the debut of the Evora 414E Hybrid prototype; thus announced the automobile company Lotus.

The car will try to adapt the erstwhile concept that was introduced way back in 2010 Geneva Motor Show. It will feature two electric motors that will work together to pull off a neat 408hp and 1000N-m of torque. This can make the car accelerate from standstill to 60mph in just 4 seconds. The maximum speed is expected to be 130 mph and the car can travel 48 km just on electricity.

When the batteries are almost drained, a three cylinder engine generator boosts life into the electric motors and recharges the batteries. This technique can help reduce C02 emissions to as low as 55gm/km.

The Principal Vehicle Dynamics Test and Development Engineer at Lotus, Mr. Simon Corbett says that the new Evora surpasses its predecessor Evora S in terms of its torque. The new models torque is almost two and a half times greater than that of the Evora S which is an impressive figure for a light weight car. The “surge of torque is like an ocean wave!”, he added.
