Ford motor company, Ford Racing and Shelby American join hands in paying tribute to late Carroll Shelby. The car 2013 Shelby GT500 Cobra is unique and made its first appearance in Pebble Beach. The car is not special only for it is a tribute to Carroll Shelby but also because of the package it provides. This car, which is based on the 2013 Shelby GT500, fastened with a Ford Racing Whipple supercharger (4.0 liter) that otherwise produced 662 hp, produces a total power output of 850 hp.

Shelby American has provided this car with all the ornamental changes. An out of the ordinary hood, brakes are from Shelby Wildwood, an all-new wide-body kit for the back and latest wheels. The front wheels are of a size 20X10 inch and wheels at the back are 20X13 inch. The wheels are this wide to provide ample of traction. The rear wheels are also covered with 345-section tyres that provide plenty of room for performance and extra grip.

The body of this car looks the same painted in Guardsman blue in the company of Wimbledon White stripes that were a common feature in so many of the Cobra’s of the 1960’s. Shelby American’s President John Luft announced that as one finds the touch and feel of Carroll Shelby in this vehicle they will find it in all the cars to come in the future.
Jim Farley, Ford’s group VP for sales and marketing reported that “This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the original Shelby Cobra”. Talking about Carroll Shelby he mentioned “This car represents the very idea he had about making the 2013 Shelby GT500 into a true Cobra.” Before this 2013 Shelby Cobra gets on the roads, it will be publicized at the Ford display at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
