Mercedes-Benz would be launching the B-Class Electric Drive concept at the Paris Motor Show. The concept car will preview a 2014 model. It will be based on the same design of future electric cars from Mercedes.

Interior: Mercedes has said, “Don’t look for any cargo area deficiencies on the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class. Stressing that the B-Class EV will have the same interior space as the other B-class models. They also call it, “Energy Space”. Elaborating more on that Mercedes-Benz said in an statement, “ The so-called Energy Space in the floor of the vehicle in front of the rear axle ensures that the concept vehicle offers the same generous and variable space inside as the current series production models. The Energy Space provides a safe and space-saving means of accommodating the powerful lithium-ion battery which also has a positive effect on the vehicle’s centre of gravity.”

Technical specifications:

Engine: 100 kW electric motor. The B-Class EV’s motor and battery packs will be provided by Tesla.

Torque: 229 lb-ft of torque.

Overall range: 124 miles and, in Europe,

Charging options: 230 and 400 V will be available.
The car is supposed to be available by 2014, and the U.S. market may actually first from where the rollout will start.
