The Toyota Auris Touring Sports is the estate version of the Auris hatchback. It was unveiled recently at the Paris motor show.

The Touring Sports version would compete alongside the likes of the Ford Focus Estate, Hyundai i30 Tourer and Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer –

Exterior: the station wagon version has the same 2600mm wheelbase as the hatchback, but its overall length is 285mm longer that the hatchback. The decision to launch this model was taken after a market survey. It found that in Europe, station wagons are quite popular and currently represent about a fourth of the mainstream C-segment sales mix.

The extended roofline features a sloping rear screen, aluminum roof rails and an integrated rear spoiler. The loading lip is 80mm lower than the hatchback’s for added practicality, while the load bay is more than 750mm deeper than the hatchback. The bumper and the tailgate also have received a different styling. A new, wraparound rear combination lamp design reinforces the dynamic shape of the rear wing, new D pillar design and rear screen.

Engine specifications: Engine options will include will also be available from launch with the same 1.33 Dual VVT-i and 1.6 Valvematic petrol and 1.4 D-4D diesel units offered in the hatchback and a 1.8-litre full hybrid powertrain with standard CVT automatic transmission.

It will also be the first estate car in its category which will offer a full hybrid powertrain alongside conventional petrol and diesel versions.

Toyota expects a five-star Euro NCAP rating for this car due to its brake assist and seven airbags. In addition to that it also comes with a a new follow-me-home lighting system, Hill-start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control and LED daytime running lights.

The Toyota Auris Touring Sports will go on sale in 2013.
