Chevrolet has come up with a new offering, which is the Chevrolet Onix. It is a compact hatchback that is imitative of General Motors architecture that is meant for small-sized cars. It has been developed by General Motors do Brazil.

This car made its first appearance at the 2012 Sao Paulo International Auto Show. The car features customization and connectivity exclusive to cars of its class.

This car is being manufactured at the General Motors Complex in Gravatal (State of Rio Grande do Sul). It will be up for sale in Brazil from the month of November onwards. Chevrolet offers with this car both manual and automatic transmissions. The manual is a five-speed whereas the automatic is a six-speed transmission. It also provides two engine options- 1.0 liter and 1.4 liter engines both are fitted out to run on pure ethanol (100%) or a flex fuel admixture of ethanol and gasoline.

“We looked to create a car with high levels of design, comfort and technology that will exceed customer expectations” stated Gustavo Colosi, Chevrolet’s Marketing Director.

The car will be featuring Bluetooth connectivity, tagging along with it is Chevrolet MyLink system which is a first in this segment of cars, that lets the user display his/her videos, songs, photos and cell phone applications on a colour seven-in LCD screen which is fitted in the cabin of the car.

This car will be provided with three trim levels to its customers. They are the LS, LT and LTZ trims where each of it provides a high-class customization to it buyers using appliques and adhesives with “Race”, “24 Hours” and “Joy” themes. These themes and the various add-ons can help a customer personalize their own car and make it look all the more unique. Some off-the-shelf art too can be provided to the buyers.
