Volkswagen Santana is a very popular and successful model in China as it has sold four million units of the car. The vehicle is a saloon version which retains a powerful presence on the Chinese roads.

In the middle of the 1980s Volkswagen introduced this vehicle in China. This partnership of Santana and the Chinese automobile market has remained and been sustained over these years. After 29 years, in the year 2012, the VW Santana is another word for quality and tradition.

The latest Santana model has been modified with styling that is precise and clear. The space in the interior of this car is large. It has a wheelbase of 2603 mm which created more leg space for the passengers at the rear seats. The luggage space too has enough capacity-480 litres. The car has a sophisticated and polished appearance which is an important aspect of Volkswagen’s products. Safety and comfort too have been looked after.

The car has certain important features such as Anti-Brake System, front, head and side airbags, ‘automatic climate control or air conditioning’, ‘ESC electronic stabilisation programme’, sunroof which is electronically controlled, alloy wheels, leather fabric and parking sensors. These features are optional or are regular depending on the equipment line.

In the Chinese market this vehicle is available in three versions- Comfortline, Trendline, and Highline editions.

The car is equipped with a four cylinder engine that is naturally-aspirated and is developed by the newly formed EA 211 gasoline engine series. these engines are aluminium based engines, with 16-valve technology that produces high efficienct.

The 1.4 litre engine generates 66 kW and the 1.6 litre engine generates 110 PS. In comparison to the previous model, the CO2 emissions and the fuel economy have been improved by 28%.

The VW Santana will be premiered at the Volkswagen plant located in Wolfsburg.
