2013 BMW 1 Series EfficientDynamics BMW’s 2013 116d ‘EfficientDynamics engine’ the best in its class

At the 2012 RAC Future Car Challenge, the BMW 116d EfficientDynamics gave back 2.7 litres per 100 km.

This engine has won the ‘Best Internal Combustion Engine’ in its class after finishing a route of 64 miles which started at Brighton and got over at London. The route was challenging, with miles covering only uphill sections and traffic but, despite all of that, this five-door hatchback has recorded a 39% of mpg perfection in comparison to the standard 74.3 mpg UK or 3.8 litre per 100 km total of economy figures.

This vehicle is provided motivation by a 1.6 litre engine, which is fitted with a diesel engine which is turbocharged inline-four. It provides a power of 116 hp and can reach a peak torque of 260 Newton metres. This power is sent to the wheels fitted at the back via a six-speed manual gearbox. This enables the car to reach a top speed of 62 mph or 100 km/h in only 10.5 seconds. The car has a maximum speed of 121 mph or 195 km/h.

These fuel-efficient technologies include low rolling resistance tyres and aerodynamic upgrades which also helped in lowering the CO2 emissions to 99g per 100 km only.
