The 2013 New York Auto Show also saw the debut of the all new third generation 2014 Toyota Highlander. It is a new vehicle in the mid size category, and the refined exteriors and interiors will raise the bar in this segment. This vehicle offers a combined balance of style, comfort and utility. These are the 3 main essentials of a good vehicle.

The powertrain comes in three choices: a powerful V6 with a new six speed transmission, a fuel efficient four cylinder engine and a V6 powered Hybrid Synergy Driver.

The exteriors of the vehicle are extremely stylish and it comes with the progressive silhouette, a lower roofline and sculptured side door panels. It has grown in length by three inches and the width is one and a half inches more. It comprises of the powerful combination of being sleek and powerful at the same time. The icing is the newly designed rear lift gates with one touch power open/close and the taillights and bumpers which exude style and strength.

The material to be used on the exteriors will be high strength steel, so as to have increased rigidity. The size of the rear quarter glass has been increased to prove a wide view to the driver and the passengers. The noise, vibration and the harshness factors have been improved. Silencing insulation materials have been expanded by 30% thus lowering the noise in the interiors. The glass used on the windshield is Acoustic type glass. Panoramic moonroof design has been incorporated which reduces the wind noise.

Expansion of the dash silencer, enhancements to body sealing and the strategic placement of the three hydraulic engines mount help in reducing the vibrations.

The interiors of this vehicle have raised the bar of in the mid sixe SUV segment. The 2014 Highlander offers premium interiors with spaciousness to comfortably sit eight people. The interiors include the soft touch instrument panel, silver painted, satin, and chrome plated accents that are placed throughout the interiors. On the front dash and door trim, wood grain pattern has been added. What takes it a notch higher is the premium fabrics, perforated leather trim seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and a shift knob. In addition to this, the high quality knit roof lining and the available second row shades define the upscale interiors of this vehicle.

A comfortable and large arm rest, a newly designed in-meter-cluster Multi-Information display, ambient lighting around the front dash and doors make it an extremely stylish interior. All the possible options for convenience are added. A one step second row sliding seat function enable the passenger to comfortably get into the third row, as this provides three more inches of space. The cargo space behind the third row has also been increased thus ensuring extra storage possibility. It also includes the Automatic High Beam System, Auto Cruise Control, Smart Key, Driver’s seat memory, heated second row captain’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Three powertrain options will be made available, namely, a 2.7 liter four cylinder vehicle teamed with a sex speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, a 3.5 liter V6 equipped with dual VVT-i and a 3.5 liter V6 gasoline engine with a high torque drive motor generator.

The highlander will also boast of the MacPherson strut front suspension, double wishbone rear suspension, 18 inch allow wheels, four wheel disc brakes, Toyota’s Entune™ multimedia system, rear parking sonar, blind spot monitor, pre collision system, a rear seat entertainment system which will allow gaming systems to be connected to it and the standard eight airbags. The vehicle will be made available in Early 2014.
