The New York International Show saw the launch of various high end upcoming models. One such was the unveiling of the all new 2014 MDX luxury SUV by Acura. Not just improvised, it has been build keeping in mind comfort, a more luxurious cabin, increased fuel efficiency and enhanced dynamic performance. It is a seven passenger and it will be offered in a more affordable and fuel efficient two wheel drive configuration.

It is powered by direct injected 14 valve 2.5 liter i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder management™ (VCM™) and it gives a horsepower of 290 and torque of 267 lb.-ft. The engine is designed like the racecars that finished at the first and the second positions in the LMP2 class at the 12 hours of Sebring enduring race in the American Le Mans Series.

The New Acura MDX will be made available in the Super Handling All Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD™) as well as the two wheel drive drivetrain, and it will also have the 6 speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode and Sequential SportShift Paddle Shifters.

Since it aims to be a highly efficient vehicle, the performance is exceptional. The vehicle has an EPA fuel economy rating of 18/27/21 mpg (city/highway/combined), and the new front wheel drive model has an EPA of 20/28/23 (city/highway/combined). While being efficient on fuel economy ratings, it is also a delight for the drivers at the same time. Quicker acceleration, responsive braking, precise steering wheel are a few pointers which make it a true drivers SUV.

There are 3 modes what come in the all new Integrated Dynamic System: Sport, Normal and Comfort. He helps in adjusting the steering, the throttle response, SH-AWD and the active sound. It also features the Amplitude Reactive Dampers, MacPherson strut front suspension and the multi-link rear suspensions.

The materials used in the making of the car are high strength steel aluminum and magnesium, thus making it lightweight and strong at the same time. The vehicle weight has been reduced by a margin of 275 pounds as compared to the last model. The body statistics are as follows: 193.6 inches in length, 77.2 inches in width, 67.6 inches in height and it rides on a 111 inch wheelbase. On the exteriors, it also features the Executive Aero Sculpture, which makes it appear sleek and sophisticated. This body deign was designed by the team and the company’s Ohio R&D center, and MDX has shown an improvement of a little over 17% in aerodynamic efficiency. This vehicle is now one of the most aerodynamic and fuel efficient luxury SUV’s on the road. To take it a step ahead than its contemporaries, the vehicle also features a tuned platform, a more airtight body, triple path isolated dampers, new sound deadening materials and the Active Noise Control technology.

The interiors are also built in a pretty lavish manner. It will provide equal comfort to both, clients and kids. The compact multi rear suspensions and the innovative new technologies on the second row, help in access to the third row. For the third row, they have incorporated a new One Touch Walk-In Feature, a two inch lower step in height and a 3 inch wider entry way. Just one touch to the illuminated One Touch Walk-In button, and the second row seats fold up.

In addition to all of the above, the vehicle also boasts of Acura Jewel Eye™ LED headlights, Acura/ELS Studio premium audio system, next generation AcuraLink™ connectivity system, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic™, convenience, information, security features via cellular system and compatible web enabled smartphones.
