The 2014 edition of the Chevrolet Malibu is a value addition over its predecessors. It improves upon two important aspects of the car. The new model enhances the spaciousness of the car over its outgoing model. Another feature that is bound to appeal to most potential customers is that it increases the fuel efficiency of the predecessor. That is often one of the solitary criteria governing the buying decision for many.

The new edition will come in 3 variants. They have been christened Eco, Turbo and Standard. The car is expected to hit the markets in the fall of 2013. The pricing of the car has not been announced officially but it is expected to fall in the range of $23,000 to $34,000. The more expensive model will have its benefits in the form of the state of the art Turbo 2 LT engine.

Efficiency is a top concern for this car as mentioned earlier. However that does not mean that the car compromises on power. It still delivers power that can put many others to shame. The engine is an 2.5 L inline variant. It is capable of producing power to the tune of 196 HP. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 8.3 seconds. The top speed that can be attained by this car is 130 MPH. The 2.5 L engine is connected to a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox. The transmission unit comes with gearstick buttons which can be used for manual overriding. The car has a start/stop button. It is one of those features intended at increasing the fuel efficiency of the car. In a congested area with high traffic, the driver can hit the stop button and prevent fuel consumption. The mileage that the car delivers is admirable. It is of the tune of 23 miles per gallon in city conditions and 35 miles per gallon on the highway.

A new edition has to include certain changes on the design front too. The new Chevrolet Malibu does not disappoint on that front. The car has been restyled in many ways. The front veneer, for example has been remodeled as a whole in tune with the other recent models. The design bears similarity to the ones we have seen in the Impala and the SS variants. The front grille has also been modified slightly. The new design gets its touch of chrome that accentuates its appeal further. The headlights occupy the cornermost positions they ever could. This almost serves as an illusion and makes the car look broader. The headlamps are nothing but projector beams that offer excellent vision. The plastic bumper has contours along it that enhance its style. The Chevrolet emblem in golden hues is embossed on the center of the front fa├žade and looks imposing. Another change that was noticed was that of door handles. They now come in chrome. Also turn signal indicators have been added on the exterior rear view mirrors. The rear portion of the car is a stealer when it comes to looks. The Impala comes nowhere close to it in design or appeal. The thing that struck us most was the LED Brake lights. They shine magnificently and serve to augment the sophistication of the car.

The interiors did not get much of a make over as compared to its predecessors. The dashboard has been done in dual rainbow hues. It houses a center console. The console has areas for cup holders. There are other storage solutions too with an option to dock a smartphone. The car is more comfortable than its predecessor. The knee room (1.25″) has been increased.
