The Spanish automaker, Seat has now leaked the official photos of its Leon ST (Sport Tourer) before they are chalked to make their formal unveiling at the Frankfurt auto show of 2013. Seat had come up with their five door hatchback in the last year’s auto show at Paris followed by the three door coupe that was sleek and fine. Now, the Seat Leon ST forms the third car in the lineup. Build on Volkswagen’s MQB platform, it is a more practical vehicle which combines a sporty appearance with everyday functionality. High level of workmanship has been used on the Seat Leon ST so that you no longer have to choose between style and utility. This new compact estate car provides you with the best of both worlds.

You can select one of two versions of engines to power the Sports Tourer. The 1.2 TSI comes with either 63 kW or with 77 kW. The start stop technology and brake energy regeneration has been successfully used so that the ST consumes only 4.9 liters for every 100 kms. Then there is the 1.4 TSI which can develop either 90 kW or 103 kW and uses only 5.3 liters to cover 100 kms. The top of the line petrol engine is the FR with 1.8 TSI. It delivers a maximum power of 132 kW and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.

The Seat Leon ST comes with a broad range of TDI engines as well. They generate powers ranging from 66 kW to 135 kW. First, there is the entry model 1.6 TDI that generates a maximum power of 66 kW and a maximum torque of 230 Nm. This is followed by the 2.0 TDI with a power of 110 kW and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Finally, the FR line has a 2.0 TDI which generates a maximum power of 135 kW and a maximum torque of 380 Nm. This model consumes only 4.3 liters to run 100 kms.

Systematic lightweight design has been successfully used in the Seat Leon ST to enhance the sporty feel of the car. The base model of Seat Leon weighs only 1233 kgs. This makes it the lightest estate car in its class. In fact, it is only 45 kgs heavier than the five door Seat Leon. This lightweight design has gone a long way towards increasing the fuel efficiency of the Seat Leon ST.

Like the other products from seat, the Leon ST too has got its accentuated design. Interplay of light and shade along the sculpted lines of the side of the car gives it a unique look. The angled rear windscreen is mated perfectly with gently rounded roofline and the muscular shoulders. The full LED headlamps combined with LED rear lights supply the final design highlights of the seat Leon ST.
Adaptive chassis control is one of the main features which emphasize the dynamic character of the car. The steering is calm yet highly responsive while the suspension masters all irregularities with best in class smoothness. The Adaptive chassis control DCC comes in three different modes to suit the drive profile. There is the Sport mode to make the car even more agile; the comfort mode is best when you are looking to relax while the third one is Eco or individual. Progressive steering reduces steering effort while parking while the adaptive cruise control is a new introduction that maintains a specified speed and distance, accelerating and decelerating in traffic. Drowsiness detection system, multi collision brakes and lane keeping assistance are some of the other advanced features that have been incorporated in the Seat Leon ST.
