The BMW I series is stands for visionary vehicle concepts. The BMW i3 is completely powered by electric motor and has been designed for unique driving pleasure. The electric motor that powers this concept car produces an output of 125 kW and maximum torque of 250 Nm. The lithium ion storage cells are integrated underfoot and power is transmitted to the wheels by single speed transmission. The battery can give a range of 130 to 160 km and can be recharged easily from a domestic power socket. It was so designed that charging twice or thrice will be adequate for normal city activites. The eDrive program of the BMW group has completely designed this unique battery so that there is zero emission and the trademark BMW driving pleasure.

Lifedrive architecture has been finely mated with the electric power of the car. In order to compensate for the higher weight of the lithium ion battery, lightweight CFRP has been used in the passenger cell. The battery is placed low and center so that there is a 50-50 weight distribution. The car has a turning radius of only 9.86 meters. This coupled with stiff suspension, precise steering and the power of the electric battery makes for an extraordinary ride. The car takes only 7.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph.

The car is also equipped with high standards of safety. The passenger cell is hard strength while impact force is divided. Aluminum crash structures are present in front and back for additional protection.

The BMW ConnectDrive service makes the BMW i3 the world’s first fully electric powered fully networked car. It focuses on energy management and navigation. The car comes with Concierge Services information facility and the Intelligent Emergency Call function. Remote apps are available to share the information between car and driver.
