The Fiat Punto has been in need of renovation for quite some time now. The company has therefore made quite a few replacements in the hopes of infusing new blood into the range. A new sporting trim level of the car has been introduced. On the other hand, the Lounge and the TwinAir trim levels have been withdrawn. However, you can still get the award winning TwinAir engine as an option in Easy and GBT trim levels. With these revisions, the Punto is now available in four main trim levels. These are Pop, Easy, GBT and New Sporting.

Of the above, the Sporting trim is the new introduction. It comes with a choice of two engines. You can either opt for the 1.4 liters 8 valve petrol engine that develops a power of 77HP or a 1.4 liter 16 valve MultiAir petrol engine that develops a power of 105 HP. The Sporting trim will be available both in three door and five door models.

Apart from the engine, the Sporting trim includes an exciting new kit that is bound to appeal to customers who want a safe yet fun and stylish drive. The body colored rear spoilers and side skirts, gloss black electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, gloss black painted roof and chrome exhaust tailpipe completes the sporty appearance. The theme continues in the interior with the black interior roof lining, tarmac finish dashboard and the sports leather on the steering wheel, the gear knob and the hand brake lever. The general performance is also improved with a sport suspension, sporting black headlights and fog lamps and the 16 in 7 spoke 2 tone black Sporting alloy wheels.

The Sporting trim level of the Fiat Punto is being offered at prices starting from £12355. The overall package has definitely made the car stylish, exciting and fun, though the engine option remains rather limited for a car aspiring to sporty performance.

Apart from the Sporting trim, the engine lineup of all the other trim levels of the Fiat Punto includes the following:

· 1.2 liter 8 valve petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 69 HP.

· 1.4 liter 8 valve petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 77 HP.

· 1.4 liter 8 valve Dualogic petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 77 HP.

· 1.4 liter 16 valve MultiAir petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 105 HP.

· TwinAir 0.9 liter petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 85 HP and

· 1.3 liter 16 valve Multijet diesel engine that develops a maximum power of 85 HP.

The entry level model is the Pop model. It includes several standard features like DualDrive electric power steering, remote central locking, electric front windows, height adjustable drivers’ seat, radio CD MP3 player and airbags on driver and passenger sides and on the curtains. In addition to these standard features, the Pop will be available with other upgrades like a new dashboard with diamond embossing in line with the color range, driver knee airbag and color coded door handles and door mirrors.

Other upgrades have been put forth in both the Easy and the GBT trim models. They now come with upgraded sculpted black Castiglio fabric seats, front fog lights with cornering functions, dashboard and door ambient lighting and side airbags. The GBT trim will also be equipped with 16 inch 7 spoke 2 tone Sportline alloy wheels which replaces the previous 15 inch Sportline alloy wheels.

With all these additions and upgradations, the Fiat Punto is now likely to appeal to a wide customer base.
