Volkswagen has inundated the market with the Golf. The first half of 2013 saw the debuts of the new Golf GTI, Golf Estate, Golf GTD, and Golf TDI BlueMotion. Volkswagen has now launched the flagship of the Golf series – the all new Volkswagen Golf R. The sports car gets its power from a newly designed 300 PS TSI that can produce a maximum power output of 221 kW. Thus the output is 30 PS more than the previous model. However the fuel consumption is 18 per cent less compared to its predecessor. The car features a newly configured sport suspension system, the newly designed progressive steering system and the “ESC Sport”, which can be deactivated when on a race track. Other features are the revamped DCC dynamic chassis control system. Also under the hood you get the driving profile selector that now has a new Race mode to choose.

The Volkswagen Golf R’s engine is mated with a manual gearbox. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The predecessor could do it in 5.7 s. When mated with an automatic dual clutch transmission gearbox the sports car does the 0 to 100 thing in a meager 4.9 seconds. The top speed attainable by this car is 250 km/h. The fuel consumption, as mentioned earlier has dropped from 8.5 to 7.1 l/100 km when compared to its predecessor. The CO2 footprints have also been improved from 199 to 165 g/km.

The car features specially designed bumpers and elegant 18 inch alloy wheels. Along with that we have the standard bi xenon headlights along with the newly designed LED daytime running lights. The car also gets a two branch exhaust system with four chrome tailpipes. The Golf will arrive in the market in the last quarter of 2013.
