Since its introduction in 2008, the Nissan Rogue has become hugely popular in the compact SUV market. The car has been completely remodeled for 2014 so that it now comes with an array of technologies leading to greater riding comfort, stability, safety and maneuverability.

The interior has undergone the most radical designing changes. As a result, it is now offering a 3 row 7 passenger seating for the first time. The innovative EZ flex seating system has helped in achieving a high degree of flexibility in the design of the interior. The car also comes with an innovative Divide ‘n’ Hide cargo system. It enables 18 adjustments between the cargo areas and the passenger seats in two row models and also provides for out of sight storing facilities. You can stow the taller items in a lower deck.

The 2014 version of the Nissan Rogue is powered by 2.5 liters 4 cylinder engine that develops a maximum power of 170 horsepower and a class leading torque of 175 ft. lb. This is mated with the Xtronic continuously variable transmission which comes with a standard sports mode switch. A number of tweaks have helped to improve the energy efficiency of the new model by 10% as compared to the old version. These include an improved belt and pulley system to reduce the oil churning friction, compact oil pump, wider gear ratio, new electronic control and a total overall reduction of 40% in friction loss.

The front wheel drive CVT model is expected to deliver an impressive fuel economy of 33 mpg on highway. This is an 18% improvement on the 2013 model. The car delivers a city mileage of 26 mpg while the combined figure for the front wheel drive is 28 mpg. The car sports the “PURE DRIVE” badge to signify the commitment of the company to the environment.

Three important technologies have been integrated into the Nissan Rogue 2014. The active Trace Control is one which uses the Vehicle Dynamic Control technology. It automatically applies the brakes or smoothens the engine torque during acceleration. The net result is significant improvement in performance while cornering.

The next is the Active Engine Braking where the CVT slows down the car at the time of braking so that less braking efforts are required. Finally, there is the Active Ride Control which reduced head bobble by automatically applying the brakes and adjusting the engine torque after the car hits a bump in the road.

Though the car comes standard with a front wheel drive, you can also choose the intuitive All Wheel Drive System that comes standard with Hill Descent Control. In addition, the standard model is also equipped with 4-wheel independent suspension, Electric Power-assisted Steering, 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS) and Hill Start Assist.

In the best tradition of Nissan, a number of safety features are present in the Rogue. These include Nissan Advanced Airbag System including dual range front air bags, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags; roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection. The front seat belts come with pre tensioners, load limiters, adjustable upper anchors and the LATCH system for children. Child safety rear door locks are standard on all models. Front and rear crumple zone, tire pressure monitoring system, anti theft alarm, Nissan Immobilizer and Easy Fill Tire Alert are some of the other helpful elements in the car.

The Nissan Rogue, 2014 is launched in 3 different models – the S, SV and SL. All offer a choice of front wheel and all wheel drive systems.
