The Nissan X Trail has set a new standard in the compact SUV segment by combining the well known 4 X 4 heritage of Nissan with the latest crossover technology. Special attention has been paid to develop the drivetrain of the car so that it is the most economic, efficient and environment friendly car in its segment. Power sapping friction has almost been completely eliminated to improve the efficiency.

Several innovations of the chassis has been incorporated in the car to lead to a more dynamic performance – many of which are first in the world. One of them is the Active Ride Control. This technology detects undulations on the surface of the road and adjusts the damping to compensate for it. Another innovative technology is the Active Engine Brake which harnesses the power of the X tronic transmission. It applies a degree of engine brake while cornering or decelerating. A third innovation is the Active Trace control where on board sensors record the speed, steering angle, throttle opening and braking effort and then brakes wheels individually to reduce understeer. This technology is very helpful on slippery and wet roads. Finally, it also comes with Uphill start support and Hill Descent control.
The Nissan X Trail has benefitted from a number of latest technologies incorporated in the car. Leading among them is the NissanConnect system which offers Smartphone connectivity. A seven inch color touch screen is used to provide access to your choice of music, social networking, entertainment and travel. The system also uses latest generation of satellite navigation system integrated with Google to collect a vast variety of information ranging from weather forecasts to locations of fuel stations and restaurants. Mobile integration, Bluetooth audio streaming Aux-in and USB slots are other features of this system.
