The names of Audi and Quattro have been inseparably linked now for quite some time. as the 30th anniversary of the Sports Quattro approaches, Audi has decided to present the legitimate successor of this model at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show. The stunning design is reminiscent of a coupe while the engine performance has been fine tuned to deliver at even higher levels than before.

The new concept car comes equipped with plug in hybrid technology which has hugely improved the performance of the engine. it is fitted with a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 combustion engine that produces a power of 412 kw and delivers a peak torque of 700 Nm. The disc shaped electric motor that forms the key part of the plug in hybrid system of the car is located in between the TFSI engine and the transmission. It consists of a liquid cooled lithium ion battery that produces a power of 14.1 kWh. It produces a power of 110 kW and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The car uses the Intelligent charge management system to ensure optimal supply of energy to the lithium ion battery. It can travel up to 50 kms on electric power alone.

In addition, the cylinder on demand system has been efficiently integrated in the car. It deactivates four cylinders under part load. Then there is the intelligent start stop technology. The result of all these is that the car is extremely silent and has a class leading performance as far as fuel economy is concerned.

You can choose between three modes of driving. These are as follows:

i. The EV mode is one where the car travels only on electric motor. Since the motor is powerful enough, you can easily use this within and even without the city. The active accelerator will help you to consciously control the switch between electric and hybrid vehicles.

ii. The second is the Hybrid mode where environmental and route data are used to find out the optimum combination of the electric and combustion engines and then implement this strategy via an intelligent operating system. active navigation also helps to optimize the route for maximum efficiency. Finally, there is the hold and charge function which allows you to choose electric motor for specific portions of the route.

iii. The final option is the Sports mode where all the systems work together to deliver maximum possible performance. The electric boost function allows the battery to support the combustion engine in all situations while the energy management system ensures that the battery always retains sufficient charge.

This powerful car takes a mere 3.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph and has a top speed of 305 kmph. The special lightweight construction has helped to deliver this dynamic performance of the car.

The powerful and arresting exterior design of the car is also reminiscent of the classic Audi. Since it is designed in the spirit of racing, all the design details are ultimately aimed towards boosting the performance. These include the angular flat C pillars, rectangular double headlights with groundbreaking matrix LED technology developed by Audi, wraparound daytime running lights, and the blisters above the shoulder. The hexagonal single frame grille in the front of the car, CFRP diffusers in the rear, powered door handles that automatically extend to meet an approaching hand are some of the major features of the exterior. The interior is rendered stylish and comfortable by incorporation of several features like slim dashboard, multifunction sport steering wheel, fully digital instrument cluster, innovative air conditioning control unit and many more.
