The latest revelation from Audi is the new Allroad Shooting Brake concept at the 2014 Detroit motor show. The concept heralds the latest entry into the Audi’s line of E-Tron hybrid / electric vehicles. Part coupe, part wagon, part SUV and part sports car, the vehicle has given quite a lot away about how the TT sports car will look when it goes for production later this year. According to Audi technical boss, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, the new concept offers a ‘concrete look into the near future.’ The car features a new large ‘three dimensional’ grille and LED headlamps. These give a preview of a bold front – end approach for cars including the TT sports car and midsized A4 sedan.

During the press release, Audi stated, ‘the compact two door show car combines a host of visual elements of future sports car models with the Audo – typical allroad concept and ‘shooting brake’ car body form.’
In this version of the E-Tron vehicles, the vehicle sports a 292hp, 2.0 liter four cylinder engine. The gasoline engine is joined by two electric motors, one on each axle. For the electric, the onboard 8.8 kWh battery pack which powers the dual motors shoots the vehicle up to 31 miles on battery power until gasoline comes in. The vehicle also reaches 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds via a six- speed dual clutch automatic and can reach a top speed of 155 mph. The vehicle boasts of power outputs of 300kW and 650 Nm. The car is built with lightweight materials such as aluminium and carbon fibre reinforced plastics. This helps it to keep the weight down to around 1600 kilograms. The Allroad’s interior showcases the TT’s new interior. It includes the high resolution 12.3 inch screen that dominates the ‘instrument cluster’ ahead of the steering wheel and controlling information through the multi function steering wheel and MMI touchpad.
