Kia brought in a huge element of surprise by unveiling the GT4 Stinger concept. it comes with the official description ‘it is not coming soon, it is coming now!’ Packed with promising features, the Korean company Kia has got a firm foothold in the automobile industry and has shown it is not to be taken lightly. The Stinger is a rear wheel 2+2 sports coupe. The Kia design Center America Chief designer Tom Kearns describes the concept as having a ‘Totally selfish design’.

The coupe comes with a detuned version of the 2.0 litre, direct injection turbocharged four cylinder which was last seen in the Kia Optima GTS racer. The power output is 315 hp with a six speed manual transmission. The grip is provided by Pirelli Pzero tires wrapped around a set of 20-inch wheels. The braking device is a defining feature of the Stinger with 15 inch Brembo brakes and four piston callipers. In other external features, the overall length is just 169.7 inches and a short wheelbase around 103.1 inches. It is a wide, low and light vehicle at 2874 pounds, therefore, yielding well to agility. The front sports a ‘tiger nose’grille with a glowing white surround. On either side are vertical LED headlamps and a the clamshell bonnet in front has chrome accents as well as bulges to house the alloy wheels. At the rear, the body widens and sports LED rear lights illuminated from behind a black panel stretching across the width of the car.
When we come to interiors, we see a sparse minimalist style with rubber floor mats, sparse instrumentation and an absence of a stereo system. The door handles are billet- aluminium ones and the steering wheel is flat bottomed with an instrument cluster which uses the red LEDs. The seats are leather wrapped and bulky yet comfortable. The Stinger is definitely a positive sign for Kia.
