It has been a few weeks after the launch of the Peugeot 308 and the company is back with a car that only borrows the name but has almost nothing more in common. Completely redesigned, Peugeot designers have actually created an estate car which has 610 litres of boot space, as according to BBC Top Gear is class leading and can store up to 610 litre cartons of orange juice! This makes it way ahead of Volkswagen Golf Estate’s 605 litres and Ford Focus estate’s 476 litres.

The 308 SW packs dynamism, class and sport all rolled into one. Both the 308 and the 308 SW share the same wheelbase. Lighter than the 308 by a difference of 140 kg, it is sleek (length 4.58m, height 1.47m) and exceeds requirements of customers decently well. In competition with the (slightly cramped in comparison) Ford Focus, it has been practically designed with simplicity on focus. The seats are folded with a single action from inside the boot and the car has a perfectly flat floor. The space inside the car is not cramped up but clutter free instead. For customers, the Peugeot’s i-cockpit gives an all new experience with its modern, refined yet innovative style. Another category for competition is its quality finish.

The car is available in both petrol and diesel variations. A blue HDi version is also available in the market, which produces only 85g CO2 per km. This is a milestone in this segment. The car is to be presented for the first time at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and the sales are to start in France, followed by the other European countries in spring.

The car has been built at Sochaux and will be fitted with power units which shall be produced at the Tremery and Douvrin plants in France.
