Leading car manufacturer, Seat has unveiled two Cupra versions, the Leon coupe and hatchback. When comparing features among the two, both the Leon Cupra and the Cupra 280 sport a 4 cylinder, 2.0 litre TSI turbocharged engine which delivers 195 kW (265 hp) in the Cupra and 206kW (280 hp) in the Cupra 280. Both provide a maximum torque of 350N-m.

The Cupra is set to be Seat’s most powerful road going model reaching 0- 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds when fitted with the DSG. In manual transmission, it is compromised by 0.1 seconds. The Leon Cupra on the other hand does 5.8 seconds and 5.9 seconds respectively. Top speed on both models is 250 km/h. Fuel economy for both versions is 42.2 mpg UK with the DSG version and 44.1 mpg UK in the manual ones.

The Cupra is 55 kg lighter than its predecessor and comes with big air intakes, rear diffuser, twin exhaust and unique 18 inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, the Cupra 280 sports 19 inch rims and an aero kit with a rear spoiler complete with a black interior as well as exterior trim.

About the Cupra 280, Top Gear reviews, ‘267 horses was always a bit of a struggle for the front wheels of the VXR, where torque steer wanted to spit you into the nearest bush with each prod of the throttle. Seat says it’s addressed this with a new mechanical front diff that improves traction, eliminates torque steer and can send up to 100%of the power to one wheel. And if you are geeling brave, there’s also the ability to turn the traction control completely off – something you can’t do in a Golf GTI.’
Available on order, the prices for the SC Cupra is 25,690 GBP and 28,525 GBP for the Cupra 280 DSG. Deliveries are expected to commence in March.
