Nissan had first unveiled the NV200 concept van at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. In 2009 the light commercial vehicle went to sale. 6 years later, in 2015 the van has received an unprecedented modification that will have lasting impact not just on the model but on the entire segment. Nissan has introduced a fully electric version of the NV200 called the ‘Nissan e-NV200.’ With this vehicle Nissan will become the world’s first automobile manufacturer with two all-electric vehicles, the other being the best selling Nissan LEAF. This new van will combine the power-train of the LEAF along with the space and practical usage of the NV van.

The exterior is derived from the award winning NV200 compact concept. Notable exterior features are dual glass panel roof, LED accented sweeping headlights, sliding rear doors. Since the van is totally electric there is no tail pipe/exhaust. Its height enables you to store the van in low garages.

For a commercial van, the interior is surprisingly well-equipped. It is also very comfortable, something you do not always find in the vehicles of this segment. In a bid to make the van modern, all traditional gauges have been removed and replaced with futuristic EV-meters. The big touch screen on the central console displays useful information like power usage, range and battery charge level. The cargo space in the vehicle is 122 cubic feet and there is seating space for five persons. The seats can be folded to create more space.

This zero emission car runs on a Lithium-ion battery with 48 compact modules. The battery takes 8 hours to charge. This is attached with a 80kW AC synchronous electric motor that creates torque of 207 lb-ft. The van also has a smooth acceleration. For safety and ride quality the ‘Nissan e-NV200’ has been fitted with MacPherson strut front suspension.
