French car maker Peugeot’s famous super-mini car the ‘205 GTi’ has turned 30 recently. To mark the occasion, the company is bringing out a more powerful and radical version in the form of the ‘Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition’. The car was unveiled ahead of the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed in UK. The regular ‘208 GTi’ has become popular within a very short time. Within one year, over 10,000 units of the car have been produced. On the occasion of the launch of the new car, Peugeot Brand CEO, Maxime Picat said, “Following on from the RCZ R, the brand called on the skills at Peugeot Sport to develop a more radical version of the 208 GTi. In this way the 208 GTi 30th celebrates the 30 years of the GTi Peugeot.”

To distinguish the special edition from the regular model, it has been given an attractive two-tone glossy red and matte black livery. This color scheme is seen on Peugeot’s concept cars in recent years. The car looks more aggressive in these colors and also thanks to the door mirror shells, fog lamp bezels and the front grille. The interior has also received a similar treatment with special floor mats, bucket sports seats (specially developed by Peugeot sports) with Alcantara trim and red stitching. 18 inch alloy wheels will help the car to run and Brembo brakes will help to stop it.

The special edition uses the same engine as the regular model, 1.6 liter petrol THP engine. But power has been increased from 197 horsepower and torque of 203 lb-ft to a more impactful 208 hp and torque of 221 lb-ft. The engine is mated with 6 speed manual transmission. The car can accelerate from o to 100 km/h or 62 mph in a solid 6.5 seconds.
