The pick-up truck segment has long been dominated by American and Japanese brands. But in 2011, German giant Volkswagen tried to make a foothold in the segment with the ‘Amarok’. Recently, Volkswagen has adopted a tactics often practiced by manufacturers in US, combination of power with luxury. The result is the 2015 ‘Volkswagen Amarok Ultimate’. It will be first released in European market then followed by launch in the UK. It will have to face rivals like the ‘Ford Ranger’, ‘Nissan Navara’, ‘Mazda BT-50’ and ‘Holden Colorado’ but looks like the new offering form Volkswagen will do just fine. The official press release stated, “The successful Amarok pick-up is starting its new model year with a variant that is particularly comprehensively equipped. The primary identifying feature of the new Amarok Ultimate is the modified front appearance with new bi-xenon headlights and additional chrome elements.”

Exterior/Interior

This new range topping model is available in six exterior colors- Deep Black, Starlight Blue, Natural Grey, Candy White, Toffee Brown, and Reflex Silver. LED daytime running lamps have been integrated to the bi-xenon headlights. You will also get 19-inch “Aragonit” alloy wheels, silver mirrors and tinted taillights.

The interior has been decked up with titanium black/ anthracite Alcantara seat covers, faux suede upholstery and special floor mats. The front seats are also heated. The infotainment is also quite standard thanks to the sat nav with Smartphone support and ParkPilot system, including a reversing camera. Other features include- alarm system, power folding and heated wing mirrors.

Engine

There has not been too much change in the mechanical areas. The exact details about technical specification will only be revealed after the launch date is confirmed. But it is expected that the current options will remain- 2.0-litre BiTDI (178 bhp) and 2.0-litre TDI (138bhp). Both manual and auto transmission options can be expected.
