The original ‘Volkswagen Beetle’ was one of the most influential cars of all time and was first introduced in 1938. More than 21 million units of the car have been built till 2003. Volkswagen has continued the production of the model but on new platforms. The current generation of the car is also called the Beetle and uses the A5 (PQ35) platform. Throughout its history, the car has been heavily associated with various forms of motorsport. Ahead of this year’s Red Bull Global Rallycross race, Volkswagen has taken the wraps of the new ‘Beetle GRC’, specially designed for rally races.

This new model is distinguished by its aggressive front bumper and specially designed hood with ventilation. Other notable additions are large rear wing and aerodynamic mirrors. The car will run on 17 inch alloy wheels wrapped by competition tires from the brand Yokohama. Under the hood, there is a 1.6 liter four-cylinder turbocharged TSI Engine that produces a mighty 544 bhp/ 405 KW. The engine is connected with an all-wheel drive system and six-speed sequential transmission. The acceleration is amazing in the ‘Beetle GRC’ as it can go 0 to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds. Other features include, limited differentials, high performance brakes and powerful suspension.
