Vauxhall Motors (registered as General Motors UK) was originally founded by Alexander Wilson in the year 1857 as a company for marine engine and pump manufacturing. Automobile manufacturing began in 1903 and ultimately it became a subsidiary of General Motors in the year 1925. At present Vauxhall sells light commercial vehicles and passenger cars. It is counted among the most popular British automobile brands and has been the second best selling brand in UK for more than 20 years. From the 1970’s GM adopted the policy of merging products from German brand Opel to Vauxhall product lines. By the end of the decade almost every Vauxhall became reworked Opel’s. One of the best selling models during the era of Opel inspired Vauxhalls has been the ‘Corsa’ super-mini car. It was first introduced by Opel in 1982 and began selling in the United Kingdom under the Vauxhall badge. Originally the ‘Corsa’ name was not used in UK and instead was sold as Vauxhall Nova. However in 1993, with the launch of the second generation model the Nova name was dropped and the model begun selling under its original name. Currently the model is in its fourth generation and is sold globally expect United States and Canada. A new look Vauxhall Corsa will be launched in late 2014 as a 2015 model year. Before its official debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, information and photos of the car has been released.

With segments rivals like VW Golf, Ford Fiesta and Citroen DS3 improving rapidly, Vauxhall faces the challenge of improving on certain aspects without compromising on its strengths like competitive pricing and spacey interior. The aim of the new model is to make the car more efficient, comfortable and practical. Tim Tozer, Chairman and MD, Vauxhall, says, “So New Corsa has its work cut out – both as a worthy replacement for the existing car later this year, and as a new challenger in a highly competitive class. We’re confident that it will jump both hurdles with ease.”

The upcoming model has received a totally redesigned chassis. Not a single exterior body panel has been carried over from the outgoing model. This new hatchback has been given a front fascia that has similarities with other Vauxhall models like the Adam. The wide front grille is accompanied by distinctively shaped headlights. The side blades are now lower and the taillights are also new. The customer can choose between the sporty three-door model and the five-door version. In addition, the new ‘Corsa’ has been given new suspension components like knuckle joints for the front that claim to deliver more “taught and precise handling” than before. The model has also received a new speed-sensitive power steering system.

Inside, you will find a steering wheel with a three spoke design, black glossy trim metallic accents. This hatchback comes equipped with IntelliLink infotainment system with 7-inch display screen, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri Eyes Free compatibility etc. The buyer can also go for optional features like heated seats and steering wheel, ambient lighting and sunroof with panoramic view. It is currently the only 3 cylinder production engine that has balancer Shaft that makes the unit super smooth and reduces noise-harshness-vibration. The engine can be tuned to produce 90 PS or 115 PS. In each case torque will be 170 Nm.
