Iconic French auto maker Citroen has released the second generation of the popular city car, the ‘C1’. It was showcased at this year’s (2014) Geneva Motor Show. The first generation model was launched back in 2005 and since then has sold an impressive number of 760,000 units. In addition to the usual 5 door and 3 door variants, it is also available in a new open top version known as the Airscape.

From the exterior, it clearly looks like one of the members of the recent batch of Citroen cars. The dynamic styling has been given continuity from side windows to the windscreen with help from black windscreen pillars and optional chrome weather strips. The two part headlights and round inserts have given the front fascia a very lively look. The light signature involving vertical LED daytime-running lamps underline its strong personality. The rear is also very distinguished thanks to square lights and a glass tailgate. There are no less than eight exciting body colors available for this car. The colors are- Lipizan White, Sunrise Red, Smalt Blue, Scarlet Red, Olive Brown, Carlinite Grey, Gallium Grey and Caldéra Black. Two-tone body color options are also available. The low rolling resistance tires will come wrapped around 14 or 15 inch wheels. The very spacious interior is made comfortable by power steering, heated seats, auto air conditioning etc. the easy to use, infotainment system comes with a 7 inch touch screen and has Smartphone connectivity. There are other very useful functions like parking camera, hands free start and entry.

The new ‘Citroen C1’ comes with two advanced petrol engine options. The Airdream e-VTi 68 engine comes mated to a 5 speed gearbox and delivers class topping fuel consumption and emission level. The Puretech VTi 82 engine produces 82 bhp and torque of 18 Nm and can accelerate 0 to 100 kph in 11 seconds.
