Leading Japanese carmakers Honda first brought out the ‘Civic’ in 1972 as a two door model. At present, it is a four door compact car and in its ninth generation. It is among the best selling cars in history and has sold 16.5 million units by 2006. It is still among the highest selling cars in several parts of USA and in Canada, it has been the top selling car for 14 years. It has been a long standing competitor to cars like the VW Golf and Ford Focus.

While the ‘Honda Civic’ is acclaimed for its handling and ride quality, it can be visually a bit dull. But it looks like Honda is trying to change that as recently the ‘Civic Black Edition’ was launched in the UK. While there are no major mechanical or feature related changes, the new car visually stands out thanks to the gloss black exterior color and the following black colored components- side skirts, roof spoiler, fuel filler lid and rear bumper. The car also has attractive black alloy wheel s and a special logo. Customers have two engine options- a 1.6 liter diesel i-DTEC engine producing 120 PS (88 kW) and torque of 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) and a 1.8 liter i-VTEC creating 142 PS (104 kW) and torque of 174 Nm (128 lb-ft).
