Ford’s Australian division has been manufacturing the ‘Falcon’ sedan since 1960 and over the years the model has established itself as the best selling Australian made car of all time. While the future of the model in Australia has been a topic of discussion in last few years, including talks of retiring the model from production, a new updated version for 2015 model year is all set to launch. The new model will feature the Australian interpretation Ford’s global automobile design DNA. Nima Nourian, Exterior Design Manager of the new model has said, “The challenge was delivering a powerful, yet premium look for the 2014 car…I’m proud of the fact that the new Falcon XR builds on an already distinctive design and yet delivers a whole new personality. The Falcon is acknowledged as being one of the most iconic Australian sedans available but the 2014 Falcon pushes this theme further forward. Our customers will easily identify the new Falcon by its premium look.” Bob Graziano, President and CEO of Ford said about the launch, “We’re very excited by the return of the XR8, as this badge has not been seen on a Falcon since 2010…Our enthusiasts have been asking for it so we’ve purposely revealed the Falcon XR6 and XR8 first.”

Information about the interior is yet to be released. The major external features include- signature trapezoidal honeycomb mesh grille, chiseled head light unit with ‘hockey stick’-style LED daytime running lamps, wraparound LED technology based tail lamps, attractive body graphics, power dome on bonnet, rear spoiler, sculpted boot lid etc. The powerful V8 engine will be returning to the ‘Ford Falcon’ live-up, making it the only Australia made large sized sedan available on market that has three engine options. These are the acclaimed powerful and efficient EcoBoost four cylinder, turbo/naturally aspirated six cylinder or V8 petrol engines.
