Czech auto maker Skoda launched small family car Octavia in the 1996. Currently it is in its third generation. It has been one of the best selling models in the brand’s history. In recent years the sales have been steadily increasing. In 2013, global sales rose by a staggering 52%. Motivated by the model’s success, Skoda now wants to include more variety into the model range so that it can attract even more customers. For this purpose a new estate version of the model has been built. The second generation ‘Octavia Scout’ was first showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The first generation also had a decent success after its release, selling 53,600 during 2007 to 2013. Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, Chief Excutive Officer of Skoda has said, “As an exceptionally versatile cross-over estate, the new Škoda Octavia Scout demonstrates the strengths of the Škoda brand…A true Scout has to earn that name at Škoda. The Octavia Scout has a rugged character with outstanding all-wheel and steep-slope performance, traction capacity and ground clearance. The car meets the highest technical, aesthetic and lifestyle standards. More and more customers ask for cars with individual appeal and the new Škoda Octavia Scout is the answer.” With this new Scout model, Skoda once again shows its expertise in creating versions of regular vehicles with great off-road capability. Apart from the ‘Octavia Scout’ the car maker also offers, Roomster Scout, Fabia Scout, Fabia Combi Scout, Yeti Outdoor and the Superb with a special Outdoor package for off-road performance.


The new model has been given a confident and distinctive styling. Jozef Kabaň, Škoda Head Designer has described the style of the car. He says, “The Octavia Scout has character: its striking looks and all-wheel-drive technology are in perfect harmony.” The front has a unique Scout-specific bumper that comes with black plastic molding. A silver off-road attachment has been added to the lower front panel. The front fog lights have an exclusive distinctively shaped design. The model name badge has been fitted to the front radiator grille. Another feature is the aluminum finish mirror housings. Optional Aluminum finish roof railings are also available. There is also 220/50 R17 tires wrapped around 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the car has been designed very precisely with uncluttered body lines. Two reflectors have been integrated into eother side of the rear bumper (cat’s eyes). The black colored lower black-clad bumper has an off-road attachment similar to the one in front. There are no less than 13 exterior color options., four standard shades and nine metallic colors.

The interior has been given a new design. There are model name letterings on the door sills while the gear knob and three spoke design steering wheel also carries the emblem. Two colors are available for the dashboard. There are two choices for the seats- brown fabric or Alcantara leather combination (black or brown). The ‘Octavia Scout’ also come packed with some ‘Simply Clever’ features- folding cargo fasteners, ice scraper in the fuel filler flap, high-visibility vest holder , side door waste compartment and several storage compartments.


2015 ‘Skoda Octavia Scout’ comes with three engine options, one petrol and two diesel and one petrol. The 2.0 liter TDI engine is the most powerful with 184 PS/135 kW and comes with six-speed auto dual-clutch transmission (DSG) and all-wheel drive. There is another 2.0 liter TDI engine that produces 150 PS/ 110 kW and comes with a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine can give the figures of 5.1 litres/100 km with 129 g/km CO2 emission. The petrol engine is a 1.8 liter TSI unit that can create 280 PS/132 kW and comes with six-speed auto DSG.
