Pioneering German automaker Volkswagen first launched the luxury SUV ‘Touareg’ in 2002. Currently in its third generation, the SUV is getting a facelift for the 2015 model year. The new face lifted version was first unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show and is now ready to hit the road. The existing model has already sold over 700,000 units worldwide and now Volkswagen looks to increase the sales even more.

The new 2015 ‘Touareg’ is not very different from the outgoing model. However, the headlights are now larger in order to improve the visibility of the driver. Subtle redesign has been done to the both the SUV’s front and rear profiles. The overall impression of the face lift is that it is an evolution instead of a complete makeover from the previous form.

More than the exterior, changes have been made to the interior of the car. The existing leather trim now features a whole range of new colors, while the main areas of the dashboard have been given the chrome touch. The electronic control center has been added with a new knob for easy access to the important functions while driving. The new information display now supports apps such as Google Street View and Google Earth. It also gives you important traffic updates. Inside you will also find safety features like nine airbags, improved crash protection and blind spot monitoring.

Volkswagen will be giving different engine options in the different markets for the 2015 ‘Touareg’. In most markets it will carry over the 3.0 liter V6 TDI engine. It is available with two variants, 202 and 255 horsepower. It has also been tweaked to provide better efficiency and compliance with emission standards.

In the North American market customers will get the more powerful 3.6-liter engine with 280 horsepower. A top of the range V8 engine has been added that can deliver up to 340 horsepower. All variants will have 8 speed auto transmission and all-wheel drive system.
